Posts Tagged ‘Monthly Photo of E’

E has said some pretty funny/cute things over the last few months.  Here are some examples:

  1. E found a 20 cent piece. He handed it to me asking me if we can put it towards a holiday. I said, “of course, that’s very thoughtful of you. Where would you like to go?”  “I want to go to America so we can drive on the right side of the road,” E proclaimed.
  2. E and C are fishing off the back of our couch. I’m preparing homemade pizza and I over hear E tell C “here come the vaginas. Look they are biting your feet.”
  3. Watching Obama’s farewell speech. When Obama said, “My fellow Americans”, E says “We’re fellow Americans.”
  4. A conversation with E at the dinner table.
    E: I don’t like vegetables.
    Me: Oh, really?
    E: Yeah. (Pause)
Mommy, can I have more kale, please?
Me: Sure. Is kale a vegetable, E?
E: Yes. I like kale! It grows from a plant.
  5. E was playing with his penguins. He had one under his shirt and in his belly.  The penguin was born and then he shouts “call Jodi (our midwife)! She needs to put the penguin back in my belly!”

E still isn’t very into arts and crafts.  However, he can now color in the lines.  E can write the letter “E” and is working on writing the rest of his name.

E is really into putting his stuff into boxes.  He wants to bring a box home from preschool everyday.

He still likes PAW Patrol, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Mickey Mouse, and the Octonauts.

Reading is still a favorite activity for E.  E also enjoys walking around the red zone picking fruit.  C and E often play pirates together.  They play really nicely together!!!

E’s favorite color is green.  He also still likes to wear his clothes on backwards and his shoes on the incorrect feet.

E loves M and is now attempting to pick him up to move him where he wants to play together.

I must have forgotten to post E’s monthly photo after M was born.  Ops!

Over the last two months, E has matured a lot.  He has been more helpful and a better listener.  I’m really liking this stage!!!  His attention span has increased too.

E is fully potty-trained again.  He poos by himself too and no longer needs us to wipe him.

He likes to wear his clothes on backwards.

His creativity has expanded.  Today he served me “juice juice juice with egg, strawberries, raspberries, and pizza.”

E has been extremely excited about the coming of spring and warmer weather.

He asks random questions and just says random things too:

  • “Do strawberries come from red flowers?”
  • “When will it thunder again?”  He remembers it thundering on C’s birthday.
  • “Is it tomorrow today?”  In fact, he keeps asking questions around the idea of time lapses especially regarding “tomorrow.”
  • “When will the strawberries grow, Daddy?”
  • Me: “E, go use the toilet, please.” (This was in the evening before our calm down period before bed.) E: “I already used the toilet last night!”

At preschool, he has ventured out and is currently concentrating on art.  This week, E drew his first people!  It was a picture of me and Jeff.

E is now four years old!  It seems like yesterday he was a baby.

Elijah 4 Years Old (9)

At four years old, E still loves to cuddle me.  Every morning, after breakfast of course, he comes and cuddles next to me in my bed.  If I get up before he gets these cuddles, he requests us to return back to bed for our morning cuddle.  I, of course, say yes every time.

E not only recognizes his name, but he can also spell his name now.  Two weeks ago, I turned his name into a song and three days after I created it, he spells his name entirely on his own.  I think next we will slowly start working on writing his name.  It won’t be anything strict as I believe (with the backing of research) these early years are meant for playing and that formal learning is for much later.

His favorite color is green.

He has made new friends at preschool.  For the longest time it was just Kayleigh, Joel, and C, but now Christian and Angus are his friends.

His imagination play often includes crocodiles, monsters, pirates, and cooking (I think one of the most random items he has cooked for me was chocolate covered sauerkraut).

E is a gentle and shy boy.  He can get himself completely dressed.  He loves to do things for himself, which I encourage!  He also likes to clean things.  I wonder how long that liking will last?

Jeff and I threw E a birthday party this Sunday afternoon.  He loved having his friends over to play.

E opening his presents from his family back in the States.  He received some new books, stickers, a box of legos, goldfish, some new clothes, and a much needed new pair of gumboots.  He really wanted a functioning chimney for his birthay, but sadly, that was a bit impossible!

E is still into the solar system.  He even knows the order of the planets, including the dwarf planets.  It definitely made his day getting new gumboots, but solar system themed ones that light up, literally illumatinated his world.

E helped put his candles on his cake.

The final product.  E and C are both into Paw Patrol.  E enjoys saying “Chase is on the case.”  It’s a shame that due to our region, we cannot watch Paw Patrol on youtube.

Opening more gifts at his party.

Once everyone left, the boys just wanted to play with the gift from Joel and Kayleigh, which was a box full of trains and accessories.

Then, on his actual birthday, I surpised E with a birthday cake at his preschool.  Needless to say, he was extremely joyful about that!

E happy to see me arrive at preschool on his birthday.

All the kids sang E happy birthday, both in Maori and English.

Happy Birthday E!  I’m looking forward to see how you grow over the years to come.

E: 3.5

Ops.  I wrote this post a wee bit ago and forgot to post it!

Elijah 3.5 (26)

The theme for E this past month was independence!

E can now put his clothes on by himself (except for his shirt).  He is also a pro at removing all of his clothes.  He has entered a naked stage in life.

E can go to the toilet without any help.  (I’m so excited about this!)  Sometimes he still asks for either Jeff or myself to tag along with him.

E is really into Christmas.  He has been singing “Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, kisses all the way” throughout the house for the past couple of weeks.
